Bits & Pieces

There are some great singer-songwriters doing wonderful things - some Aussie CD’s I like to lend to friends are: Lucy Lehmann, Holly Throsby, Lucie Thorne, Jodi Martin, Clare Bowditch, Liz Frencham, Lisa Mitchell Penelope Swales, Megan Washington....

Music Times

- Gracelands (Memphis baby) my pilgrimage

- Seeing Tammy Wynette (out of the iron lung) lots of fringes, 10 gallon hats and D.I.V.O.R.C-ing going on.

-The Lucksmiths... why did you break up & what happened to your merch desk of spoons, umbrellas & fridge magnets?

Concerts of Note...

Bob Dylan, Dazza @ Tilleys (Hanlon), Fat Boy Slim, Arlo Guthry, Ani di Franco (where she sang Trampoline), Iota (old Gypsy), Simon & Garfunkle, The Church, The Lucksmiths, Mal Webb, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Elvis Tribute concert & every Elvis impersonator in-between, including the Thai Elvis guy who did requests, & the one on my 18th Birthday who fell off the stage - good times.

Lyrics I like

At the moment my favourite is the opening line of Kathleen by  Josh Ritter

‘All the other girls here are stars, you are the Northern Lights’

as far as a declaration of love goes - it’s pretty tops.

Ani’s ‘you look like a photograph of yourself, taken from far far away’ also takes fancy.

Paul Kelly’s observation that ‘from little things big things grow’ is always good to keep in mind.
